Jon Kaplan’s travels in over sixty countries and five continents have resulted in lifelong friendships and this intimate collection of photographs. The vibrant colors and distinct patterns of the clothing are authentic, representing those typically worn day to day by the subjects. “The message in my photography is about cultures, about humanity, about the richness of people’s lives,” explains Jon. “When someone sees one of my photographs, the first thing I want them to notice is, ‘What a great human being!’ You have to reach people with that sense of humanity.” When a viewer experiences the emotion captured on the face of a child in one of Jon’s portraits, it is clear that this artist has a deep connection with the people he photographs.
